The VALUE of a Great DJ
This is a BLOG that I found from a Venue that explains how important a DJ is to your event. It is perfectly written and I hope that after reading this, you will listen!
You've spent countless hours flipping through magazines and searching the Internet for the perfect venue, and you finally found it! It's your dream Venue. Like nearly every bride to be, you have a relatively clear vision of your wedding. You've spent the money on the venue, not to mention the gorgeous flowers, and the dress....Oh the Dress!!! That stunning dress cost way more than what you imagined but you simply couldn't part ways. You've even selected the perfect wedding favors and menu cards to achieve that overall look. Not only did you hire a fabulous coordinator, photographer and videographer, but you even spent extra money on a photo booth (that's a whole other blog....no worries; we'll talk about that in a future blog). This leads me to my question.....with all the time and money spent on planning your dream wedding, why would you ever dream of pinching pennies when it comes to hiring your DJ? Think about it...this person is going to be the emcee for your entire evening! In many ways, he is a direct representation of you on that day.
In the midst of planning, hiring your neighbor's son to be your DJ may sound like a great way to save some money, but I strongly encourage you to think twice!! And, I beg of you, "Please Do Not Search for your DJ on CraigsList!" Do you remember that old saying...'You Get What You Pay For'? Well.....it's true! Hiring an amateur DJ to play your ceremony music and emcee your reception is the horror story I have heard about time and time again! I've also witnessed it firsthand! Therefore, all of my clients are informed at the first consult that they must hire a professional wedding DJ. And just so you know, club DJ's do not count in fulfilling this requirement. They are called 'Club DJ's' because their area of expertise lies in spinning the coolest tunes in the club, not in working with your coordinator to get you down the aisle. And definitely not in timing your grand entrance and playing music that will appeal to a wide range of guests at your reception.
So, I probably sound pretty picky.....well, I am but that's because this is your wedding we are talking about. You should be picky too! It's a very important day in your life and you should only hire quality vendors that appreciate the time and money you have spent. So.....who do I recommend?
Serendipity Magazine
This is a relatively new magazine that I have found very wonderful to look through. There are countless of wedding magazine's out there but this one is clean, easy to read, good information and beautiful pictures. Co-Editor Caroline Chang who is also a coordinator started this great magazine. Here are two articles that answer's questions that I get from many clients:
